My name is Lias/Lisa.I'm a psychology-trained therapist from Germany.

I fell in love with Spain when I first moved here 8 years ago. After living here for a year, I studied clinical psychology in The Netherlands and later started working in Germany for a few years. However, I was always drawn back to Spain.

Barcelona is an amazing city for me as a person who is intrigued by art, loves amazing food, and wants to meet like-minded politically engaged and queer people.

So, what does working with me feel like?

I will give you time to express yourself.

I encourage transparent and honest exchanges with you. I know it can be hard to share personal details, so you can relax and take your time to share.

I have an integrative approach.

Emotionally Focused Couples Therapy, Internal Family Systems, Trauma-specific approaches (IRRT, NET, Inner Child Work), Queer-Affirming Approaches, elements of CBT.

I offer a professional yet warm and non-hierarchical relationship.

As a therapist I am not “higher up,” I simply have a learned set of skills to share with you to help improve your mental health and wellbeing – just as YOU have skills I may not yet have (like playing the guitar).

I provide a space of unconditional acceptance.

Where your experiences, beliefs, opinions, and perspectives are accepted, validated and treated with understanding.

My interest in how the human brain works was sparked as a child, when my great-grandmother developed Alzheimer’s.

I have always loved helping and listening to people to try to understand what is troubling them.

When I moved to The Netherlands, I had a wonderful host mom who was a therapist. She shared inspirational stories about her work and encouraged me to study Psychology.

After completing my studies and in the course of my counselling work with refugees, I became interested in all types of trauma and resulting mental health concerns (PTSD, anxiety, depression, personality changes).

I love how my job is always interesting because all clients have their own special story, background, and way of living.

How did I realise my calling in life was psychology?

details that shape me as a person

When I was a teen, skydiving was my hobby.  I jumped over 100 times out of an old Antonov AN-2 airplane.

Created with Fabric.js 1.7.22

I am non-binary, pansexual, and polyamorous.
My pronouns are they /them /theirs. I am able to relate to some of the challenges queer or non-monogamous people might experience.

I love swimming and being in water in general. The most beautiful creature I have seen was a mantis shrimp while diving in the ocean.

Let me share an exercise: externalising a feeling.

In my clients own words - therapy with me

They make you feel very comfortable and although everything is executed professionally, it doesn't feel too formal, this is a difficult balance to achieve and I think it is what is great about lias.

I have learnt so much about myself, about how to handle situations and all whilst with a smile and positive guided steps. I have had therapy 3 times [with Lias/Lisa] and this has been the best so far, super happy!

Although I'm very early on in my journey, I can already feel in my body the changes that are being made. Most importantly, I've never felt judged and finally feel I am healing. I've already recommended Therapy in Barcelona to many others.

They is amazing! Really respectful and engaged in each session.

This is my first time having therapy so I haven't got anything to compare it to but my sessions with Lias/Lisa have been really helpful. [Lias/Lisa is] really understanding and insightful, and an excellent listener. Even though some sessions were difficult and not very pleasant (in terms of accessing certain memories), Lisa was very kind and led me through the whole process. Even though we've only had 6 sessions, already a weight has been lifted.

Lias/Lisa has been fully understanding, switched on and very aware. I have learnt a great deal about myself and others. I have had three therapists and Lias is the best so far.

My child seems to be happy with his therapist so we are happy too.
