Queer Support Group Barcelona

Hello and thank you for your interest in Queer Support Group offered by Therapy In Barcelona and lead by queer and non-binary therapist Lias/Lisa

Below you can find some more information provided by Lias.

When and Where?

Our queer support group will take place in person in the beautiful buildings of Therapy In Barcelona at Calle Paris 162, 3o, 1a, 08036 Barcelona
Sessions will take place every Thursday from 1500-1640h starting on October 13th, 2022.
With Whom?
Lias is a 28 year old clinical psychologist from an East German working class family. They are non-binary (agender), pansexual, and are a relationship anarchist and are white, agnostic, neurotypical, and able-bodied. They completed their International Bachelors in psychology in Rotterdam (NL) and Western University (Canada), and their Master’s in clinical psychology at Leiden University (NL). They have around 3 years of experience working as a counsellor. They have completed trauma therapy training and an Externship in LGBTQIA+ centered Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT). They are currently undergoing training in London to become a certified EFT therapist. Their interests are swimming, fashion, nature, animals, queer parties, audio books, poems, of course psychology, and much more.
Who can participate?
Anyone who is 16 or older and identifies as LGBTQIA+, queer, or is questioning their sexuality or gender – or other identity. People identifying as transhuman or trans species are also welcome.
This group will aim to be radically inclusive, accepting and giving an equal voice to everyone independent of their sexuality, gender – or other identity, race, ethnicity, country of origin, body size, neurodiversity, ability, formal education, age (although the minimum age to participate is 16), religion, etc.
This will be an open group, meaning that occasionally new members might join the group.
We will start with a set number of participants between 5-10 people. There will be a maximum of 10 participants at the time. It is recommended to join at least 10-20 consecutive sessions but you will be able to leave the support group whenever you wish to do so and do not have to justify your leaving.
What will we do?

First of all, we will create a brave space which will hopefully turn into a space that feels safe for everyone participating.

Beth Strano said:

There is no such thing as a “safe space”. We exist in the real world. We all carry scars and have caused wounds.

This space seeks to turn down the volume of the world outside, and amplify voices that have to fight to be heard elsewhere.

This space will not be perfect.

It will not always be what we wish it to be.

But it will be our space together, and we will work on it side by side.”

– and this is what we will aim for.
Within our brave space, we will learn to understand each other and work on healing some of the wounds we have been carrying for being queer or otherwise marginalized.
We will aim to explore, find, and heal our identities by questioning the society and the systems we have been raised and socialised in, and by deconstructing beliefs that elicit frustration, anger, and shame within us. We will validate each other’s experiences and explore and learn from those of others. As we create our very own brave space, we will find out what everyone expects and needs from this support group and try to incorporate as many people’s wishes as possible and feasible. Your input and feedback will be used continuously to adjust the content of the group sessions to your individual wishes and expectations as a group.
How much will it cost?
There will be a non-refundable one-time sign up fee of 20 Euros to ensure that you are committed to join the group and to cover any additional costs for materials and tea, juice, coffee, or cookies that will be provided during group sessions.
The price of one group session (duration = 100 minutes) is a self-select fee of 20-80 Euros. You can contribute what you can according to the financial resources available to you. It is recommended to pay around 50 Euros on average per session. If you buy a pack of 5 or 10 sessions you will get a 5% or 10% discount respectively.
If you are unable to join a session, you will not have to pay a session fee but you will need to let me know at least 48 hours in advance if you are not coming to the support group since we will need a certain minimum number of people joining to make the support group happen.
To complete your sign up process, you will need to pay Lias a one-time sign up fee of 20 Euros and the fee for the first group therapy session on October 13th.
