I’m Lidia, a client-centred therapist and Gottman Method Couples therapist.

Originally from Spain, I have landed back in Barcelona after living as an expat in Singapore for the last 21 years.

I understand the difficulties of adapting to a new country, culture, and language. I have worked with many expats facing similar challenges as a therapist.

Now, I am committed to helping others navigate these issues at Therapy in Barcelona.

Tips for recognising red flags in relationships

What is the Gottman Method?

The Gottman Method of Couples Therapy is a research-based approach to strengthening relationships. It focuses on increasing the understanding, intimacy, and respect between partners. This method is well-suited for couples wishing to overcome recurring conflicts, deepen their emotional connection, or enhance their relationship’s overall quality. It involves assessments to understand the relationship’s dynamics and utilises specific therapeutic interventions. The core components include enhancing the couple’s friendship, managing conflict effectively, and creating shared meaning. Couples are taught practical skills to improve communication and increase their ability to handle disputes constructively. For couples working with me, this approach can offer a structured and evidence-based pathway to foster a healthier, more fulfilling relationship.

As a child, my love for animals led me to dream of becoming a veterinarian.

However, during my teenage years, I discovered a passion for psychology after observing the intricate world of emotions and relationships.

My interest in couples therapy stems from the importance of love and friendship in our wellbeing.

Is psychology my calling in life?
